Lipitor comes as a tablet to take it orally. It is usually taken once a day with or without food. To help you remember to take Lipitor, take it around the same time every day.

Your doctor may start you on a low dose of Lipitor and gradually increase your dose. Continue to take Lipitor even if you feel well.

Do not stop taking Lipitor without talking to your doctor. Eat a low-cholesterol, low-fat diet.

Do not take Lipitor without first speaking to your doctor if you have liver disease.

Prior to taking Lipitor, inform your doctor if you have a chronic muscular disease, necessitate major surgery, or have a blood disorder.

You may not be capable to take Lipitor, or you may necessitate a dosage alteration or special monitoring during treatment if you have any of the circumstances listed above.

If you experience any of the following symptoms, call your doctor immediately such as muscle pain, tenderness, muscle cramps or weakness with or without a fever.

Keep Lipitor in the bottle it came in, tightly closed, and out of reach of children.

Store it at room temperature and not here from excess heat and moisture (not in the bathroom).

Discard away any medication that is outdated or no longer needed. Converse to your pharmacist about the proper disposal of your medication.

Look for emergency medical notice if an overdose is suspected. The symptoms of a Lipitor overdose are not known.

Alcohol and Lipitor can both be injurious to the liver.

Alcohol must be used only in self-control. Discuss the use of alcohol with your doctor so that the probable for liver problems can be resolute.

Grapefruit and grapefruit juice may act together with Lipitor. The interface could lead to potentially unsafe effects.
