More Facts about Glyburide |
| |
Glyburide is an anti-diabetic drug (sulfonylurea-type). |
| |
Glyburide is used along with a correct diet and exercise program to manage high blood sugar. |
| |
Glyburide is used in patients with type 2 diabetes (non-insulin-dependent diabetes). |
| |
It works by invigorating the release of your body's natural insulin. |
| |
Efficiently controlling high blood sugar helps stop heart disease, strokes, kidney disease, blindness, and circulation problems, as well as sexual function problems (impotence). |
| |
|
| |
Glyburide must be stored at room temperature, 15-30 C (59-86 F). |
| |
|
| |
Glyburide is used in blend with diet and exercise to lessen blood glucose in patients with type 2 diabetes. |
| |
Glyburide may be used only or collectively with other medicinal drug for treating type 2 diabetes. |
| |
|
| |
The recommended starting dose is 2.5 to 5 mg daily of regular tablets or 1.5-3 mg daily of micronized tablets. The maximum dose is 1.25 to 20 mg of regular tablets and 0.75 to 12 mg of micronized tablets. Glyburide usually is administered with the first main meal of the day. |
| |
|
| |
Bosentan (Tracleer) and glyburide must not be used collectively. |
| |
For the reason that blood levels of both drugs reduce, potentially plummeting their effect, and there is an augment in liver toxicity. |
| |
Bosentan may add to the breakdown of glyburide in the liver. |
| |
There have been reports of alteration in blood sugar (increase or decrease) in patients processed with fluoroquinolone type antibiotics, for instance, levofloxacin (Levaquin) and ciprofloxacin (Cipro) and antidiabetic agents such as glyburide. |
| |
Thiazide diuretics, for instance, hydrochlorothiazide (Hydrodiuril) add to blood glucose levels, plummeting the consequence of glucose reducing medicinal drug such as glyburide. |
| |
|
| |
There are no sufficient studies of glyburide in pregnant women. |
| |
Prolonged and rigorous hypoglycemia (low blood glucose) has arisen in infants whose mothers were getting other sulfonylurea drugs. |
| |
|
| |
It is not known whether glyburide is excreted in breast milk. |
| |
Since many sulfonylureas are egested in breast milk and potentially may harm the infant, alternative diabetic therapies should be considered or breast feeding should be discontinued. |
| |
|
